| Can I break my contract with United Apartments? Back to top No, you cannot break your lease; you will need to find a sub-leaser. Please call one of our leasing offices for more information regarding subleases. |
| Do you allow pets? Back to top ONLY at two of our apartment complexes: Jamestown, in the 2 and 3 bedroom units, and at Union Square. The lease term must be for 10 months or greater. The pet must be pre-approved and registered in the office and weigh less than 25 lbs. when full grown. Cats or dogs must be spade or neutered, and cats de-clawed. There is a $200.00 non-refundable pet fee and an extra charge of $30.00 a month, with a minimum charge of $300.00 per pet. All tenants signed on the lease contract must also sign the pet agreement. There is a limit of 2 pets per apartment. Check with your leasing office for further information. |
| Do I get a parking sticker? Back to top Yes, each tenant receives one (1) free parking sticker. You must bring in the vehicle's registration in order to receive a parking permit. Your registration needs to be registered in either your name or your parent's name. |

| What type of payments do you accept? Back to top We will accept cash, check, money order and debit card payments in all of our leasing offices, and offer several CREDIT CARD PAYMENT options VIA our website at www.unitedapts.com. You can use your Visa, Mastercard, Discover and e-checks NOW WITH NO CONVENIENCE FEE/CHARGE. Take advantage of our new, online Auto Pay options. There are no longer any forms to fill out. Everything can be set up online!! |
| Can I mail in a payment? Back to top Yes, all payments can be mailed to: P.O. Box 222, Mt. Pleasant, MI 48804-0222. Please, do not mail cash. Please include your complex name and apartment number on your money order or check. |
| What is renter's insurance? Back to top Renter's insurance covers your personal belongings. Your personal belongings are not covered by United Apartments. Contact your insurance agent for more details or stop by any of our leasing offices to pick up more information. |
| Can I move in early? Back to top Yes, depending upon the circumstances, and if the apartment is ready for move in. Please call your leasing office to see if your apartment is ready for an early move in. A minimum $50 charge applies to all early move-ins. |
| When can I pick up my keys? Back to top You pick up your keys the day your lease starts. |
| Do I need to make an appointment to sign a lease? Back to top No, stop in during our office hours and sign a lease. Make sure you allow 30 to 45 minutes for signing and reading the lease. Please have your drivers license with you. |
| How much money do I need to sign a lease? Back to top All that is required to sign a lease is a deposit of $125 per person. Within 14 days after signing the lease, a $125 utility fee and a $50 application fee per person are due. |
| What size apartments do you have? Back to top We have 1,2,3,4 & 5 bedroom apartments and some houses. We also offer some of our 2 bedroom units for 1 person occupancy, 3 bedroom units for 2 person occupancy, 4 bedroom units for 3 person occupancy, and 5 bedroom units for 4 person occupancy! A few 6 and 7 or more bedroom apartments may be available. Please call one of our leasing offices for more information. |
| Do I need to make an appointment to see an apartment? Back to top No, check with one of our leasing offices for model apartment times and locations. |
| When is my rent due? Back to top Rent is normally due on the first of each month, special circumstances may apply. An individual payment information sheet is provided to all tenants the day the lease is signed. |
| What if I pay my rent late? Back to top There will be a grace period of 5 days from the day the rent is due for each person. A late charge of $30.00 per person will automatically be charged on the sixth if the rent is not paid on time. This applies to all payment plans. A flat charge of $30.00 will be made for all checks returned from banks plus any late fees that apply. |
| Do you sign individual leases? Back to top No, all of our leases are joint leases between the people who sign the lease. |
| Are any utilities included with the rent? Back to top All of our apartments include: water, sewer, and trash removal. Others include more utilities such as expanded cable, internet service, and shuttle service to and from CMU's campus. Please call your leasing office for specific apartments. |
| Can I get a guest pass for my friend? Back to top Yes, all we need is the first and last name of the friend, the make, model, color, and license plate number of the car. Western Islands is the only complex that has an exception, as there is limited parking available in this lot. |
| What furniture comes with a furnished unit? Back to top We offer the option to have your apartment furnished at our Union Square property only. There is no extra charge for a furnished unit. A furnished unit comes with a couch, chair, end table, lamp, a dresser in each bedroom, and a kitchen table with chairs. |
